Mechelle B.J. Moore, CEO of Global Alms Incorporated, recently participated in the Regional Summit on Trafficking in Persons in Eastern Africa, hosted by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Regional Office for Eastern Africa in partnership with Atlas Free from 16–18 February 2026 in Mombasa, Kenya.

Participants explored best practices for trauma‑informed interviews, the importance of confidentiality and how to avoid sensationalism or re‑victimatisation. The workshop served as a timely reminder that media coverage can influence public perception, legal outcomes, and the safety of vulnerable individuals.

Over the past 2 weeks, Case Advocates from the Global Alms Incorporated Counter Trafficking Unit (CTU) have been on-site at Friendship Bridge 2 in Mae Sot, supporting Tak Immigration and Royal Thai Police officers in the ongoing identification and protection of more than 1,500 potential victims of human trafficking who recently fled KK Park, a large scamming compound in Myanmar.
