Staff Introduction: Mason C. Turner

So I’ve been working with Global Alms (GAI) for a little over a month now. And if you don’t know who I am, which maybe most of you reading this don’t, the names Mason. I’m an American dude with a very particular set of skills, which Liam Neeson would laugh at, trying his best to make a difference in this world. Before I stated working with GAI, I was working in a school in Arizona as a Behavior Coach with kids who have Autism. I loved every second of working there and it’s where God started giving me a heart for others.

So fast forward a few years and I’m moving to Mae Sot, Thailand to work with a different ministry here. I learnt and grew over the 4 years I worked with this ministry. But I felt like it was time to make a change and GAI is where I felt like God was leading me too. So even though I’ll miss my old team, here I am!

This past month has been awesome and hard. It's never easy living in a different country, but I believe in the work that GAI is doing, so I’m sticking it out. I’ve come on staff as the Operations Manager to help start up the #Yess_HeMatters program. This program, just like the #YesSheMatters program, provides men an opportunity no matter their race, religion or documented status, to receive immediate help if they have been raped, sexually assaulted, abused or caught in domestic violence.

Our team has a heart for all people groups, so we want to do all we can to see people imported and living healthy lives. I’ve had some experience working with youth in the previous ministry I initially joined, but there is still lot to learn with this program. I’m a good mix of scared and excited to get this started, because I know I’m not alone. I have great support from my church back home in Colorado and from my team here.

The team has made me feel like family in this short time, and as cliché as it sounds because I googled it, "The strength of the team, is each individual member. The strength of each member, is the team." – Phil Jackson. With all this said, these next few years with GAI are going to be an adventure. So please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we walk all this out in Mae Sot. Thanks for reading.
